McMinn County School System Awarded TnACHE-SEED Grant to Increase Continuing Education Awareness

Central High School was awarded $10,000 from the Appalachian Regional Commission's Tennessee Appalachian Center for Higher Education program at the SouthEast Educational, Inc (TnACHE-SEED) located in Knoxville, TN.

The purpose of the grant is to implement programs and curriculum components to increase the post-secondary education attainment of students in McMinn County.  Grant activities include site visits to introduce students, teachers, and community members to colleges, universities, technical schools; job awareness and career exploration activities to discover the levels of education needed for desired careers and expected salaries normally associated with the careers; and opportunities for students and parents to learn about the processes for applying post-secondary education opportunities and financial aid.

Included in the picture from left to right are: Diana Vaughn (TnACHE Consultant, SouthEast Educational, Inc.), Anita Scruggs (Grant Project Coordinator, Central High School), Heather Mahoney (Grant Project Co-Coordinator, Englewood School), and Christy Mahoney (TnACHE Consultant, SouthEast Educational, Inc.)
